Ang Review sa Review ni Heneral Luna

Lemme make this short: I loved the Movie.

Eto naman, di man siya outright na Review, but worth our time to think and reflect (naks!). Galing sa isang news clip sa Manila Bulletin online:

Nganga di ba.  Related siya dun sa commentary na nauna.  Dahil sa booom ng love team flicks at sa pagkakahumaling sa mga online games, mga kabataan tila pabebe (that is, pagiinarte) lang ang alam.  My goodness... whatever happened to education. Sigh.  I wonder lang kung sinuman yung pabebeng nagtanong na yun - magtatanong ng ganun if si James Reid or Daniel Padilla ang nagportray na Apolinario Mabini.  In all fairness to her - napansin siya na nakaupo lang palagi si Mabini.  Kudos to her.

Nakakatawa at nakakainis.  Nakakatawa - for obvious reasons, nakakainis kasi may malalalim na kahulugan.

Magagandang review.  Nakakapukaw ng pagkaPilipino.  Duh. Keep on saying that - as if naniniwala ako.  Napukaw lang - tulog ulet. Ganun.  Para lang yang alarm clock - naka snooze.. then tulog ulet.  May clamor to do more movies like Heneral Luna.  Sana nga.  Kung alarm clock man ang ganung movies - more of the similar kinds of flicks might wake us up - totally gising na talaga. Wish.

Ang BOC at ang Kahon

The Balikbayan Box appears to be synonymous to the terms "OFW" or "Pinoy abroad" and more often than not, means pasalubong or regalo.

Aminin.  Mas synonymous pa ang word na "Customs" sa mga katagang "mayayaman" or "ninakaw at binenta" or "bentang galling Customs" - all of which are - of course, negative.

But for now, nakakahiya naman sa kanila.

I Am Back

I have been out of the blogging scene for quite a while due to various reasons - tamad, walang masulat, tamad ulet, nakakalimutan magsulat, tamad ulet.  Did I say tinatamad ako magsulat?

Anyway, a roller coaster of emotions brought me back here, allowed my fingers to type the blogger url and presto - here I am - squeezing something to write, squeezing every ounce of creative juice that I might have so I can impart it to others.  In any case - I guess, I will always find something to write about.

We'll see.

Next Top Candidate

The position could belong to one of them, but at the moment, I don't really care that much.

Mar Roxas.  He hasn't really said he will run, pero duh - di naman obvious di ba? I guess the Aquino admin used a strategic position in the government cabinet to put him,and mind you - at the right timing - that's about a few years before the next election season starts. para may "recall" at para lahat ng government initiatives na channeled through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) - kay Roxas mapupunta.  Parang ang lalabas tuloy matulungin siya and all that god stuff.  As if naman the people don't know na sobrang pamumulitika na ginagawa nila - well, not all people actually, may mga tangang maniniwala pa rin.
His chances of winning?  I guess it is a ZERO. Hahahaha

Rodrigo Duterte.  He has not yet decided to run for the presidential seat - but the clamor is growing.  He is popular, especially with what he has done to the city of Davao.  Known to have an "iron fist" which people believe to be needed by the government in its fight against crime and corruption.  Well - corruption... di talaga ako sure jan.  Little has been known with his "corruption habits" simply because he is much known for his battles against crime.
Personally, he has a strong chance of winning if he runs.  Yes, STRONG CHANCE of winning.  He will surely get the "Mindanao Vote" and may be considered as the first person from Mindanao to get the highest post in the government.  He may also get the "Bisaya Vote" which are mostly people from the Visayas and Mindanao - and that is almost half of the country (if my statistics are right).

Panfilo Lacson.  Well, he ran and lost - but it appears that there is a clamor by some groups that he run again, as signified by a TV ad that is circulating as early as May 2015.  He once headed the police, and he is known to be a tough guy.  Well he can probably credit that to military/police training, and his position in the PNP before.  There were corruption cases, murder cases hurled against him.  He has some sort of a "stained' reputation, but then again, who knows, being a tough guy from the police/military could be an edge for brining in a tougher government - something that may follow Fidel Ramos' regime as president perhaps?
Personally, he may have a ZERO chance in winning.  He is not popular - which is, sadly, what most voters are looking for.

Jemomar Binay.  Who doesn't know him?  Afterall, he is the current VP.  He was the first to signify his intent to become President - and he might have decided to run after his landslide win as VP in the previous elections.  He played a dramatic role in transforming Makati City to become the financial capital of the country.  He has also done a marvelous job with the city of Makati - from certain perks and benefits by Makati residents.  Outstanding performance indeed.  Sadly, he is involved in a number of controversies - all dealing with his wealth and finances.  He started political ads way too early than the rest of the possible candidates.
Personally - he can win the Presidential seat - that is what the survey says.  Who are the survey subjects anyway?

In any case, the game will change once the filing of candidacy comes in.  Sadly, people do not look at the candidates profile and platform of government.  Philippine elections is still a popularity contest.

On Mary Jane Velasco

Mary Jane Velasco.
Can she be the new Flor Contemplacion?
Maybe - but not totally.
Her plight in Indonesia is very unfortunate.  I cannot blame the Indonesian government for being strict and firm with its decision on not granting any reprieve on her execution tomorrow at 5:00 PM.  Illegal drugs will bring havoc to its citizens, and that is something that should not be tolerated.
Yet I understand where the people who wants to save her from execution, I also understand Indonesia's stand.  I guess the blame should be pointed towards the Philippine government, for acting quite too late.
Mary Jane is a victim of poverty.  Whether she is innocent or not for brining in prohibited drugs to Indonesia, the fact still remains that she may have not left the country if she would have had any opportunity to earn quite a decent living in this country.
Sorry, not sorry.
Prayers are needed to save her.  That is probably the only thing that people can do.  Miracles can happen.  Prayers did not work during Flor Contemplacion's time.  Maybe it will this time.

Age Discrimination ?

I came across this article/news the Asian Journal while browsing.

I still hope for the best for everyone - mapa bata man o matanda.

An Inspiring Tax Campaign: Angat pa Pinas

Oh atin nang simulan
Isang hakbang para sa kinabukasan
Ating buwis ating tungkulin
Ito ang landas na ating tatahakin

Angat pa, Pinas
Tayo ang haligi ng bukas
Ating tungkulin ang buwis natin Pinas
Atin pang paangatin

Bawat isa ay mahalaga
Walang maliit kung sama-sama
Uusbong ang bagong pag-asa
Ating iwagayway ang ating bandila

Malaki man o kukunti
Lahat ay kabahagi
Handa ka na ba sa iyong tungkulin
Pagsulong ng bayan ating mithiin

Angat pa, Pinas
Tayo ang haligi ng bukas
Ating tungkulin ang buwis natin Pinas
Atin pang paangatin

April 15 na naman at deadline to file taxes.  Let us all remember the reason why we need to pay taxes.

I really like this campaign.  I like the way they present the ideal scenario on where our taxes go.  Very inspiring, very positive.  It goes to show that every tax payer contributes to the development of the country. Every tax we pay, ideally, comes back to us in many forms.

Sad to say,  everyone is aware where some of the money go.  Everyone is aware that there are government workers who care less where their salaries come from.  Sad to say, there are people who take taxpayers' money for granted.

In any case, let's just  wish that things will change.

Wala naman masama sa pag wish.

Araw ng Kagitingan

Today is a holiday!  Yipee!!!
1 - happy because there is no work
2 - happy because today is "double pay"
3 - happy because there is no traffic

Araw ng Kagitingan.
Day of Valor.
Well - technically our version of Veterans' Day.
Holiday.

As we celebrate for whatever reason, today is a holiday because today is a time to remember the bravery/valor/heroism of those who fought for our country's "freedom."  Remembering what they did for the country isn't supposed to be a 1-day thing, as it should be within our heart and mind - maybe, we'll just make this day a day to make their memory a little special.

Salute!

HELP NEEDED BADLY !!! Update

At least may ample time pa ako to think about buying it.... syempre mahirap na ang budget!

Excited.

Trabaho nya yun eh - at ganyan talaga pag may competition between dealers and the cars you sell. Hmpf.

HELP NEEDED BADLY !!!

There is a battle within me kung alin sa dalawa ang bibilhin. The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 - GLX or the Kia Picanto (and I forgot kung anong model).  Here's the story.

Quite a deal for me really, considering na 19K lang ilalabas ko - kayang kayang syempre.  So, yun na nga, pirma agad application for approval ng bank - go!

At 33K downpayment at 11,900++ for 60 mos - mejo not bad na rin.

Kia has 1.0 engine, G4 has a 1.2 na engine.  Di hamak mas malaki tingnan si G4, at mas maangas tingnan.  So, to complicate things, tinawagan ko si Mitsubishi agent - at nagtanong if pwede ipalipat ang approval ko from Kia to Mitsubishi.

Pak na pak ulet ang sagot. Pwede daw, email lang daw ako letter then pwede na itransfer.  Go naman ako.  Email keme keme.

Hay.

Ang Food ni Yaya

Thanks to this write up, the "yaya meal"  has been one of the hottest topic in social media the past few days... and I hated it.  I hate the thought that there are people who tend to be soooo discriminating to their house staff.  Take note: I do not hate the establishment, galit ako sa mga amo ng mga house staff.
Madami nagalit sa Balesin, but yun nga, you can't blame the establishment for creating a "yaya meal" or perhaps a "yaya menu" basically because it may be the request of their affluent patrons.  Call it - considerate, that they come up with these budget meals.
This goes to show how social status has become very obvious in this country.  This also shows how some of these rich people who tend to be religious and "advocates of mercy and compassion" tend to be living ironies of what they believe.
Sigh.

Treat for Runners: MILO APEX

Join na !!!
I have been wanting to join running clinics, particularly MILO APEX. I understand that it is quite pricey for the budget concious like me, but hey, this is waay cheaper than hiring a 1-on-1 trainer.
The program does help you achieve the best runner in you, and will make you fit - fitter and maybe the fittest in you.
APEX is about to start in BGC - and as always, I can only drool.  My work sched is preventing me from joining this as training starts in the evening and my work starts at 9PM.  Assuming the training starts at 6 until 8, then I only haave an hour to take a shower, dress up for work.  In reality, training doesnt start on the dot at 6 - and does not end on the dot at 9 - take it from me.
Anyway, here are the details...in case you have the time to join.

Have a Blessed Good Friday

Living in the Philippines is quite unfortunate for the non-Catholics.  It's such a pain to go throuogh all the boredom and the "pakikisama" with all the Catholics in the observance of the Lenten season.  All malls tend to be closed, no movies, no fast food, not a lot of fun activities to go to, unless you make Visita Iglesia a little fun with your family or friends.
True enough, I just find the observance of Lent a little more of "just a tradition" that we all can't run away from - afterall, our ancestors were colonized by Catholicism.  In actuality, and I guess, by heart, most of the people do not totally surrender to the observance, so most hardworking people take this more as an opportunity to take a break away from the city - and go to the beach or some other place.  If you take celebrities for example, some of them take the week off and go out of the country.
Nevertheless, with the advent of technology and modernism, it appears that the tradition is here to stay.  People need to deal with it - Catholics or not.
In any case, i wish everyone the this Friday will be truly a good one, and I hope everyone will be blessed this Good Friday - and every day!

So what?
I just think, that naming her Josie is well thought of - dahil may kwento, may totoong tao na nabuhay sa likod ng isang character.
Primary attack skills daw niya at Arnis at kickboxing. Astig!
Hay.
Ewan ko na lang.

Tingin mo?

Pak.
Baklang bakla lang.
bakit ba.
Kanya kanyang trip.

Random Thoughts

Bakit nga ba walang nagcocomment?!
Agree kaya sila sa sinasabi ko?
Disagree kaya?
Dedma lang?
or ... did not read at all - nagkataon lang na nabuksan.
Sad.
Ganun talaga.
Huh?
Drama.

It's Officially Summer !!!

Today is the first day of April and it is officially SUMMER !!!!

Pag-Asa declared today, that it is the end of the Habagat - meaning, summer na!

THE EYE OF THE STORM. Chedeng approaching the Philippine Area
of  Responsibility.  A rainy welcome to summer 2015.

Enjoy enjoy!!!

Inspiring Story

A very inspiring story - that makes me wanna get a diploma.  I did not get to finish college and I may have many regrets about being a complete bummer in college....
I could have wasted a lot of opportunities - but, this is life.

Solar Good News

Demonyo Thoughts on Holy Week

At least no crimes pag may laban si PacMan...kesa sangkatutak na pagnanakaw during bakasyon.
Pangatlo, mga taong nagbbwisita iglesia.  Syempre bwisita iglesia.
Patawarin ako ng panginoon but who the hell cares and listens to them?! Or do they truly understand and live by what they are singing?!
Wag na umarte at sabihing kelangan maging banal ang lahaaaat ng gagawin this week... dahil, in the first place, ang pagpapakabanal wala sa araw or week...dapat araw araw.

Usapang Payday

one-day millionaire?
lunes.
nganga again.
#gastosmuch
buhay sweldado nga naman.

Usapang Parking

BGC parking has never been easy, that is if you wanna park somewhere really near the place where you are going.  Case in point, the open parking near where I work is just infront of our building but, there are certain days when we needed to park like a block or two away simply because there is a loooooong queue of card who wanna park.
Sigh.

Is this a sign that a lot of people can afford to buy cars?  Is this a sign that a car is now a necessity?

Or - one can see it in a different light - that this could be a sign that most businesses prefer to consruct tall buildings than keep a peice of land for parking?

It can be one - or it can be both.

In any case, this is a sign that there is really a poor public transport system in this country - leading people to buy their own cars instead of queueing to get on a bus or a jeep or train.  The domino effect of this poor transport system has never been so evident - from traffic jams that last for hours, to long parking queues and high parking fee rates.

If only i own a peice of land here in BC - i would not want any other business but parking - it has become such a necessity in this area.

Social Climber Problem 2

Social Climber Problem

I'm not rich yet I want a new car.

May binabayaran pa kasi ako.
pwede i-stretch to 10K - nothing more than that.
sigh.
Eon lang talaga yata yun.  Di ko alam.

hay.
New car.

Of Norms and Gender

My Return to Run United 1

The Run United 2015 21K Finisher medal

I run too.  I started running around 3 or 4 years ago.  I can't exactly remember but, I do.  I ran a marathon once, and did a lot of half marys (half marathon or 21 kilometers).  I stopped for almost a year due to a knee injury.

March 8, 2015 happens to be my return to the running scene through Unilab Active Health's Run United 1 - the first of a series of 4.  I ran 21K and I did finished it and got that handsome medal in the picture above.  It was a bitter-sweet moment.  A time to push my limits and exceed myself.

I was a bit nervous to run 21 Kilometers again.  I felt that I did not train hard enough to complete it, though I know deep inside, i can finish it.  I am not a fast runner, in fact, my fastest 21K was completed in 2 hours and 20 something minutes.  My goal is at least to make it to 2 hours and a little over 10 minutes.  That's an ultimate goal at the least.

Anyway, on this comeback run, my goal was just to complete the course in 3 hours.

I was running almost the entire course.  It all started at the back of Two E-Com Building in the MOA Complex, all the way to Macapagal Boulevard, then infront of Aliw Theater/Star City, a right turn towards Baclaran and Coastal Mall crossing Buendia and EDSA through the fly-over, a U-turn back and crossing the 2 fly-overs again going to Kalaw, U-turn back to Star City-Macapagal-MOA.  I had a few walk breaks, when I get to hydrate.  It was a feat for me.  For the first time, i was running for almost 20K.  In the past races, I would be walking from KM 18 until the last 200 meters to the finish line. This time, I wasn't.

The last kilometer proved to be the most difficult distance to conquer as i was really exausted, and my legs started to feel painful on every step I made.  But seeing the finish line pushed me further until I crossed it.   My time, a few minutes before my 3-hour target.

Mission accomplished.

Next week, March 15, I will have another 21K to conquer.  Good luck to me.

My KFC Experience

The most convenient food for people who work at night - like me, is, of course, fast food.  Good thing though, there are a lot of fast food outlets that are open for 24 hours.  Though how convenient it could be, you'll soon get the hang of eating fast food everyday.  Unfortunately in the area that I work, only a few are open for 24 hours.

KFC is one of them.  The KFC Bonifacio Tower branch in BGC is a mix of heaven and hell.  Lemme tell you my story.

Part 1

Angie (my officemate) and I were sooooo hungry at 1AM, which is our "lunch break" and we decide to eat in KFC. 1AM happens to be the godly hour of lunch for most nocturnals like us in the area so expect that the store is jampacked, almost all seats taken and loooong queues.  Luckily there were 3 counters open but for some reason, the service was sooooo slow.  I happen to wonder why.
When it was our turn, then I knew the reason.  i decided to order the hotshots value meal (and I dont even know if that is the right term). Not Available. Option 2, the Twiser. Not Available.  1 pc Hot and Crispy. "Sir, 10 minutes, OK lang?!"
"Magsara na kayo!"

Angie and I decide to eat somewhere else.  It appears that everything that I ordered wasnt available, or, may take a while to prepare - and consider it as the "rush hour" of lunch for nocs.  They were totally unprepared!  Worse, they did not bother to put the "Not Available" sign on their smorgasboard.

Part 2 and I wanna call this episode the Bitching Episode.

I was working in Ortigas back then and my shift ended at around 2PM.
I decided to skip eating lunch so I could head to KFC Buendia which is just a few steps away from where I live.  With all the traffic and passengers hopping on and out of the bus, my stomach was already complaining of hunger.  Maybe it was past 3:30 when I finally stepped inside KFC.

There wasn't a lot of customers, though I was 3rd in line in one of the counters.  There were 2 counters open at that time. To save me time, I notified somebody from the counter that I would want to have their Twister so she can call it in advance to the kitchen crew - and yep, I saw she did notiied the kitchen crew.

For a good 10-15 minutes, i waited for my turn.  For some reason, the two other peopel ahead of me took a while to assemble their orders, but nah, I was still patient, coz afterall, I did had an "advance call" for my Twister.

My turn.  I told the cashier my order.  She prepared the soda, looked at the kitchen, then looked at me.

"Sir, 15 minutes, can you wait?"

Then she burst my bubble.  Furious, I told her I had an advance call and I do not need to wait for another 15 minutes.  What the hell happened to my "advance call"?!
The lady who notified the kitchen heard me, and she did acknowledged that she made an advance call, but nobody in the kitchen prepared my order.

I told the cashier to cancel my order.

i drank from the glass of soda that she was supposed to give me. I was not able to pay her yet, so just before I left, I got the glass of soda, poured the contents on the counter top and left.  I never looked back again.

Next Attraction

It's time to watch Divergent again.  Coming na kasi ang INSURGENT.  Exciting.
I only wathced Divergent online nung panahong wala akong magawa.  Nope, di ko siya na download (hehehe...) as in watch online lang.
Nice effects and theme - na parang MockingJay lang.  Parang ganun.  Uso ang rebelde.
Anyway..eto muna ang Trailer.

To Infinity and Beyond !!!!

Oh... I just luuuuuv this song.  Lakas maka Bb Pilipinas candidate.  Sarap rumampa. Ahahahaha

21M to "Forgiveness"

Anyway, try to read this na lang for more info on this issue.
